When we produced our version of Little Shop of Horrors, we were put into the same situation of nearly every small to medium theatre company; trying to decide how to pay for the outrageous plant rental fees. After a lot of discussion, we decided to construct our own Audrey II!
Anyone looking to produce Little Shop of Horrors knows that building Audrey II is no small feat. Construction of the plants can easily cost upwards of $1,000 – $5,000! There are four stages of Audrey II that must be built! You can’t start with her fully grown and taking over the world; you need to start out with a small potted plant and watch her grow over the course of the show. We think we built excellent Audrey II puppets, and because of that, we have decided to rent all four stages of Audrey II out to neighboring theatres, both community and school theatre companies.
Since our mission at the Freedom Area Community Theatre is to enrich the lives of the members in our community through the performing arts we need to be reasonable with our rental prices. By keeping our fees low, we hope that we can help enrich the lives of our community and yours through the performing arts. Because every show is different, our rates will vary based on your needs. Rentals for our Audrey II puppets start at $500 with a fully-refundable $500 damage deposit.
