Open Auditions – March 18th & 19th

We are pleased to announce open auditions for our 8th season at Freedom Area Community Theatre. Auditions will take place on March 18th, at 3:30 PM & March 19th, at 10:00 AM at Freedom High School in the Music Discovery Room. You can get a head start and download and complete your audition packet ahead of time.

FACT’s shows this season will highlight love, loss, and Rock’n’Roll. We’ll open our season in June with John Cariani’s “Almost, Maine,” followed in July with Freedom’s Got Talent!

Director, Kenneth Vandenberg tells us, “’Almost, Maine,’ is John Cariani’s quirky romantic comedy in eight scenes. The tales unfold in the chill of midwinter under the northern lights, which adds a magical element as part of each story. Love sparkles in many guises under the aurora borealis in the town of Almost, Maine. Every scene takes place at 9 p.m. somewhere in Almost. Unexpected plot twists keep the audience guessing. The stories are full of sweet surprises, so human they touch something deep.”

As part of “Almost, Maine,” FACT will also be producing a one act curtain raiser featuring middle schoolers from grades 6, 7 and 8. The one act will show case the up and coming talent in Freedom.
This year’s theme for “Freedom’s Got Talent!” is “I’m a Little Bit Country. You’re a Little Bit Rock’n’Roll.” FGT features a variety of talent — singers, instrumentalists, acrobats, dancers, comics, even martial artists. Director David Watters states “FGT will be back again this year and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! FGT gives a platform for Freedom residents of all ages to showcase their talents.”

Adds Vandenberg, “Every year I am enormously impressed by the quality of talent and the time and commitment Freedom residents put into rehearsing our productions and performing. FACT’s summer productions are a great way of celebrating what the people of our community can do artistically. It has been amazing to see the range of performers we have had over the past several years. I am excited to see what new talent Freedom has to offer this summer.”
